Saudi Arabia has decided to suspend flights between the kingdom and the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Bahrain, while temporarily suspending the travel of its citizens and residents to these GCC states.

The Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia had earlier temporarily restricted entry to its territory for arrivals from the UAE, Kuwait and the Bahrain to airports only, a Saudi Press Agency report said.

An official source at the Ministry of Interior stated that according to the preventive and precautionary measures recommended by the competent health authorities in Saudi Arabia, as part of its efforts to control the new Coronavirus (COVID19) and prevent its spread, the government decided to temporarily suspend the travel of citizens and residents to the UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Lebanon, Syria, South Korea, Egypt, Italy and Iraq.

It has also suspended the entry of those coming from those countries, and those who were there during the 14 days prior to their arrival, said the report.

The source excluded evacuation, shipping and trade trips while taking the necessary precautions, it added.

The source added that the Ministries of Interior and Health may coordinate to deal with humanitarian and exceptional cases.
