Saudi Arabia suspends work in private sector

INDUSTRIAL NEWS

Saudi Arabia has suspended work in private sectors except health and food services for 15 days, a Reuters report quoting Saudi state news agency said.

Saudi Arabia has reported 171 cases of coronavirus so far, and has taken measures to limit the spread of the pathogen, including closing mosques for daily prayers and announcing an extraordinary virtual G20 leaders summit next week.

The kingdom had already closed work in government offices for two weeks.

It outlined exceptions for companies providing vital food and health services as well as utility services. Pregnant women, workers over 55 and those with severe pre-existing conditions must be given 14 days additional leave.
