Saudi's newest low-cost carrier flynas has announced the beginning of the exams for its 'Future Pilots' programme towards recruitment of 100 co-pilots.

With about 300 co-pilots who have graduated so far, the programme has contributed immensely to localising the co-pilot position in flynas by 100%, making it the first programme of its kind in the Middle East to achieve its localization goals, said the airline in a ststement.

According to flynas, the applicants need to pass the English language proficiency test and possess a minimum total flight time of 240 hours (215 hours for Single Engine and 25 hours for Multi Engine) as well as hold GACA or ICAO equivalent Multi-Engine Land CPL/IR pilot certificate, and also have a valid GACA first-class medical certificate.

The programme is aimed at increasing the number of local graduates within the coming years, it stated. This comes after the company successfully achieved 100% Saudisation in the recruitment of co-pilots.

The Saudi low-cost carrier said it has now opened the programme for a new batch of applicants for FY 2024, in bid to boost localization rate of the Captain Pilot position.

Since its establishment in 2007, flynas has committed itself to launching the Future Pilots programme as a strategic step that affirms the Saudi national carrier's dependence on ambitious Saudi youth to create a new generation of sons and daughters of the nation qualified to work as pilots, said the statement.

The programme is characterized by a combination of theoretical and practical study as well as actual training to fly aircraft. After finishing the training programme, the Saudi graduate will be able to work as a co-pilot for flynas, it added.-TradeArabia News Service
